Maker Spotlight: Yellow Owl Workshop - Artful Goods for Creative Expression

Yellow Owl Workshop was started by artist Christine Schmidt back in 2007, out of a small apartment studio, first in Brooklyn and later in San Francisco. What began as hand-printed greeting cards grew into a full line of playful, artful goods: cloisonné earrings, hairpins, socks, rubber stamps, and Risograph-printed cards, all built around bold color and original graphics.

Christine has always leaned into eco-conscious materials, from hypoallergenic and gold-gilded metals in the jewelry to OEKO-TEX® certified fabric in the socks. The brand's reach has grown well beyond its indie roots too, with pieces carried by retailers like Anthropologie and West Elm, and even picked up by museum shops including MoMA.

What we love most is that everything still feels handmade in spirit: the earrings come packaged in little glass vials, the stamp kits are genuinely useful (not just decorative), and the socks and jewelry both lean into art-history in-jokes, think Matisse, color wheels, and pop art.
